  1. Chalk Hill Estate Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2009 750mL

Chalk Hill Estate Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2009 750mL

The 2009 Chalk Hill Estate Chardonnay is creamy and complex, opening up to reveal intricate aromas and flavors as it breathes in the glass. Barrel fermented with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtration, this wine experienced a gentle and natural progression from grape to bottle. Aromas of honeysuckle, ginger, and white peach precede a slight flintiness and fresh cream. The palate combines Asian pear, jasmine blossom, and a sur-lie creaminess with an earthy, wetstone minerality.

  3. Quivira Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2012 750mL

Quivira Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2012 750mL

This is one of those rare Zins that delivers richness yet still retains its finesse. There’s a brambly mix of raspberries and black cherries in the 2012 balanced by pepper, earthy tannins and enough acidity to keep things interesting. A perfect wine to serve with grilled pork chops (in fact its great with just about anything off the grill) or with a hearty bowl of spaghetti bolognese.

The palate is full of berries, a hint of caramel, with a dusty chocolate finish. The wine has great structure, is well balanced, and has a delicious lingering finish.

  5. Dry Creek Vineyard Zinfandel Heritage Vines 2011 750mL

Dry Creek Vineyard Zinfandel Heritage Vines 2011 750mL

    Score: 92 Points Wine Enthusiast

This is a big, powerful yet well-mannered Zinfandel, blended with 16% Petite Sirah. The Zinfandel vines average 30 years of age, and it’s classically Dry Creek, with an exotic spiciness and briary, brambly notes of blackberry and raspberry. The tannin-acid balance is just about perfect.

  7. Kunde Zinfandel Sonoma Valley Family Estate Series 750mL

Kunde Zinfandel Sonoma Valley Family Estate Series 750mL

Winemaker Notes: We use a 3 to 5-day cold soak on our Zinfandel lots to maximize color extraction early, before the alcohol starts to build from fermentation. We then allow the must to warm up naturally and begin fermentations with native yeasts. Pumpovers are aerated and vigorous early, then shortened and more gentle later in fermentation. The small addition of Petite Sirah helped to intensify color, body and really juiced up the aromatic complexity. The wine was aged in French and American oak (28% new) and bottled in March 2014.

  8. De Loach Heritage Reserve Zinfandel 2011 750mL

De Loach Heritage Reserve Zinfandel 2011 750mL

100% Zinfandel aged for a few months in American and Hungarian oak barrels. The grapes mainly come from De Loach’s own organic and biodynamically farmed vineyards, with some fruit from other, warmer areas of California. Sonoma’s Russian River Valley has a long slow even growing season that seems to coax real elegance out of Zinfandel, making the wines quite different from the usual take on the grape.
